Silver Cove Anchorage - Torbay (Devon)

Anchoring Cost - Free!

Silver Bay in Torbay (Devon) is a very quiet and secluded little anchorage located in Torbay, in the middle of the English Riviera.

There's nothing here in terms of facilities, shops, anything, so be sure to bring everything you think you're going to need with you. Note on the chart that there is a no anchor zone in this are, marked with yellow buoys which is to protect the sea grass beds, but we anchored just outside this marker and held fast in gale force winds coming in from the south west.

The Beach

Landing on the beach is easy. It's incredibly quiet and well protected from the wind. It's likely quiet because it's actually quite tricky to get down to with the path being incredibly steep and treacherous. I (Dominic) managed to slip down it no less than three times, at which point we decided to put a climbing rope in place to make life a little easier. If you are prepared to brave the steep hike up, then you will be rewarded with a beautiful coastal, wooded walk. We certainly think it's worth the effort.
