Polperro- Cornwall

Anchoring Cost - £15 per boat (in 2023)

This absolutely picturesque fishing port has to be one of the most photogenic places we've ever been to. Steeped in a rich history of both fishing and smuggling you can't help but still feel the very vibe of yesteryear, to this very day.

Mooring a boat here, I won't lie, was a little scary after we made our approach and found ourselves in the entrance as the reef either side of the trot moorings feels exceptionally close. I would only ever suggest attempting this in the most calm and benign of conditions because despite being 'plenty of room' to manoeuvre in reality, there isn't a great deal of room for error if you had to deal with swell, wind and/or strong tide too.

But, this place is very much worth the effort. From charming cobbled streets, to old smugglers dens of pubs, this amazing village will take you back in time the very instant you step ashore.
